I don’t know why you would even need to talk to a 6 year old about her body. I don’t think America’s Top Model is the problem. It sounds to me like the mother and grandmother are the source. You seem to be making a big deal out of food and food portions. I grew up with an anorexic sister, and her and my mother were always talking about food and exercise. It became their focus of the day. They could tell you exactly what they ate during any given day and exactly how many calories it all was. What a mess it has made her life…and all those surrounding her. Stop talking about food now. Let a 6 year old be a 6 year old!!!!

Why is a six-year old watching America’s Next Top Model? That is NOT a children’s show. If you are so worried, then expose her to healthy programming not a show that perpetuates the issue.

I sure hope that Nicole Richtie is setting a better example for her baby these days. I have a 6 year granddaughter who is absolutely gorgeous with body image problems already. She loves America’s Next Top Model, but the images she see has her concerned with exercise and diet. Her mother and I work with her to maintain a healthy self image by letting her know that its okay to want to be healthy, but we will portion out her food and won’t give her more than her tummy can hold and if she wants extra we do not deny her, but when we know she’s had enough, we won’t allow her to eat more. We have got to take control of children’s destiny and not allow society to tell them that they are not beautiful because they are not size 0s.
