Rona, that isn’t always true. Did you know that obesity often runs in families and doesn’t have to do with eating habits in some cases. I have a son who eats like a bird. He is still over weight. He doesn’t eat junk food. He doesn’t eat fried food. And he isn’t fond of starches. He isn’t lazy and he loves to spend time outside working and playing. He loves sports. But unfortunatly he takes after me and a long line of overweight relitives. I could show you generations of pictures. People who lived during the depretions and poverty even worse then that. All fat. And I don’t make my son clean his plate. Sometimes we think we want more then we really do. You need to learn a little more about obesity before you go and start blaming people. You obviously haven’t concidered heredity, medications, food allergies etc.

If you look close you will see that he is not eating what is in his hand. It is a pine cone he is going to put peanut butter on and then bird seed for the birds. It is an activity many children do growing up. Weight gain is not always the parents fault, though most times it is. There are many ways to gain weight.

Umm..the kid isnt eating, he’s making a bird feeder. My kids do that at school, pine cones coated in peanut butter and rolled in bird seed. It’s an activity, not a meal.

I had gastric bypass surgery and tried every diet on the planet. It is the parents fault 100%, that is who feeds you and keeps the crap in the house. They say clean your plate or theres only this much left why don’t you finish it. The parents are responsible end of story. Kids get called names and have to go to school with their head between their legs. Try anything before doing the surgery and let that be the last resort.
